Yeah, it’s kind of a pain to get a good result. It’s not clearly marked on its tag (I consider this an issue. They should clearly warn folks) DO NOT PUT THIS IN THE DRYER. Those who have “matted fur” - that is probably why, it melts the polyester fibres and filling if you put it in the dryer. Or if you didn’t rinse the glue out well enough - a trip to the dryer would probably glue all the fur together permanently. Also, I think it needs submersed in warm water for quite a while to get all the glue out. I threw my kid in the tub with it - she normally takes decently length baths - so like 25 minutes - and she conditioned the stuffed animals fur with conditioner and brushed it out with the conditioner in its fur, then rinsed it really well. I only saw a tiny amount of fur get pulled out with his method. After the bath I towel dried the stuffed animal really well and then let my kid blow dry it on low heat for a while so she felt like she was contributing. She did it for maybe 5 minutes and then grew impatient so I blow dried it dry for what felt like ages on medium heat, careful not to stay in one spot too long and singe or melt any of the polyester. I’m pretty experienced at doing that - cause I do it all the time with my own shirts and leggings (I spill stuff on myself a lot and am too lazy to change clothes). Anyway, so I dried the stuffy. The end result is a little ragtag but it’s very soft, pretty fluffy, definitely not matted or flat, and clearly a kitty. Also, I trimmed the fur a tiny bit around its nose and eyes. It was almost too fluffy in its face.It isn’t quite as smooth or new stuffy feel and look as I imagined it would be. It’s also clearly sewn kind funkily in a few spots (tail, neck), I’m not used to being able to see seams like that, but its’ easy to cover up with the the fluffy fur. It’s also not really a toy most kids will have the patience to set up on their own. I mean, if they’re not impatient for the “end result” to happen right away, a good toweling off and then the stuffy could be air dried / hung dry overnight. It didn’t feel like it was boggy wet like some others have said. Don’t need to twist the stuffy — put a big towel down and fold it into fourths. Fold another big towel into fourths. Place stuffy on one of the towels, put the other towel on top, and press. Reposition the stuffy around on the bottom towel so it can squeeze as much moisture out as possible. Most of the moisture will come out this way. Ours was 85% dry when we started using the hair dryer on it. The ear material and middle fur was more porous and took longest to dry.Bottom line for me — Kid is happy. So, I am happy. The main appeal of this toy is most likely put into a kid's mind from Youtube. I got this for my 5yo, and she liked it at first, but the reason why I did not like it was because it is not made well at all for what it is supposed to do, and falls apart very easily. This is a category of "surprise toy", so it comes in a ball and you do not know which one you will get. You need to submerge it in water to get it to unroll. You can see the glue that makes it keep a circular form until it dissolves in the water. The issue is that once the toy unrolls, you need to dry it because it is stuffed with cotton. Do not use a hairdryer because if you are not careful, the heat from the dryer can very easily melt the mesh under the fur, or create a burn spot very quickly. You also can't twist the toy to get the water out, because a seam will rip. Once dry, the toy comes with a comb, but the fur pulls out too easily for kids to comb it, so it becomes another way to damage the toy. The last issue is with how the parts are sewn together. The seams are very weak, so it really is only a matter of hours before an ear comes off, the eye falls out or there is a gaping hole somewhere. Because of the plastic eye that is literally the size of a kid's esophagus, I would not leave this toy alone with a kid under 5 or 6.To me, this is the type of toy that is so poorly made, that it most likely was only meant to be a 1-month fad, and production will not last because demand will fall. It was not worth the cost at all, though I do like the premise of what they were trying to do making a submergible surprise toy. I honestly, would have rather paid a bit more, for a better quality version of this toy. The overall initial enjoyment of giving a stuffed animal a bath was fun for my kid, but the immediate disappointment of this cheap toy falling apart right after the bath caused too many tears to justify ever buying this again. My daughter had been asking for a scruff a Luv for over a year. I honestly saw no point to them after watching videos of them. I finally ended up deciding to get her one and used it as a motivator for my daughter to do better and behave better & got it for her fir her birthday. She was so surprised when she saw it & it’s a fit kind of cute and her little cousin saw it wanted it so now I know the perfect gift to get her. When the child is reading the box before opening and says, "mom I think this is supposed to be the word these but its spellwd wrong. Ugh.. Spellcheck?? These....Thse....I gave this 5 stars just because of how happy my baby is with this thing. I mean it does what it says lol which is not much but as long as my baby girl loves it ...My 9 year old loves these things. They’re overpriced but very “cool” and require some work (hand “wash” in water and blow dry), so at least it’s not just another stuffed animal.Fun little project. Took her a few days of brushing till she was happy. Seems to need a regular brushing to keep it looking good.Daughter liked it. Not impressed myself. Took forever to get dry and was not plush when finally dried.I thought it was such an overpriced and useless toy, but my grandson loved it. i only purchased it because that is what he asked for his birthday.A mi hija le encantó, esta muy feliz, tiene buena calidad, tarda un poco en secarse pero es entretenido y muy divertido para los niños.Lo agarre a súper buen precio. Es un peluche super cure que está de moda. Es caro pero la nena lo quería muchoEste juguete ha sido la peor inversión y aún un niño se decepciona de la calidad. No es nada parecido a la foto con la que lo venden.Honestly so disappointed and so is my little one, end up throwing it in the garbage what a waste of money.
